Waldorf sysnths

The essence of forward-looking sound. The Core.

Project Detail

The well-known Waldorf Music brand has been synonymous with high-quality synthesizers for over 30 years; indeed, its innovative position in the electronic musical instruments marketplace dates back to 1989 with the release of the wavetable synthesis-based Microwave, an amazing ‘reincarnation’ of the legendary PPG Wave series.

About this project

Waldorf Music Gmbh manufactures high quality synthesizer units. These synthesizers work on an analog method with a digital switch matrix. They can be modulated in many ways and can therefore generate very diverse sounds.
From beautiful polyphonic harmonies to noisy abstract stuff. The variety is almost infinite on these devices.

This video shows this diversity. As we dug deeper and deeper into the realm of music, we started to notice these small details and realized that each sound is special, abstract and beautiful. We worked on the video for about a month. It was an interesting experiment for us to try a new module from the Octane tools. Vectron is a code system that creates very interesting fractals. Due to its mathematical complexity, it really made our render machines sweat.

Project execution

The concept started, with the music. If the animation is about synths then the music should be one of the key element here. After the music selection and picturing the scenes and motion the modelling and animation process started. The real challenge in this animation, the audio driven effects and spectrogaphs were. The models and textures were created from scratch.

When it came to choosing the music, we knew from the first minute that we would need some special tunes, so we chose the songs of the British band 65daysofstatic. Their music mixes the hard punches with subtle meaning full parts, with tiny unpredictable noises. We hope you like the new video and get the message about the incredible variations and quality of Waldorf products.
